Buenos Aires Subway workers have announced their intention to strike this Thursday for two hours, closing ticket offices all day, if the City government does not respond tomorrow to their complaints over safety.

Subway and Premetro Workers' Union Association (AGTSyP) directors Alberto Pianelli and Néstor Segovia criticised the Mauricio Macri administration for failing to install security screens on ticket offices and provide police protection in stations, after several attacks on staff.

The unionists, however, added that they had been called to the City's Work Secretariat tomorrow in order to seek a solution, meaning the results of that meeting would decide whether strike action is ultimately carried out.

Should the industrial action take place, services between 5 and 7am would be cancelled, while the shutters would remain closed on ticket offices for the duration of Thursday's opening hours.
