60 bus line drivers take over headquarters, maintain strike

Drivers of 60 bus line decided on Saturday to maintain their strike, which affects at least 250 thousand users daily and took over the line’s headquarters in Greater Buenos Aires area of Ingeniero Maschwitz, as the provincial police and gendarmerie officers guarded the area.

he strike began on Tuesday to claim for the reinstatement of four fired drivers. On Thursday negotiations between union leaders, Monsa authorities and Labour Ministry officials failed, and the strike continued despite the ruling of a mandatory conciliation.

On Friday, union delegates assured they received letters threatening them to lift the strike within 24 hours or risk being sued and possibly losing their jobs. Despite the threats, union delegates decided to carry on with the strike at least until next Tuesday, when negotiations with company Monsa and Labour Ministry officials will be resumed.
