Labourstart, the trade unionists’ online news forum, is inviting supporters to send messages in support of two sacked activists from the ITF-affiliated, British RMT union.

RMT members have voted for strike action on behalf of Eammon Lynch and Arwyn Thomas, who were dismissed by the London Underground Limited and whose cases went to an industrial tribunal. Eammon Lynch today won his appeal for unfair dismissal, and a decision is pending on Arwyn Thomas’ case.

Unionists are invited to send their messages of protest to London mayor Boris Johnson. Labourstart’s Eric Lee said: “Mayor Boris Johnson can prevent a tube strike later this month. Employment tribunals have already ruled in favour of the union. It's a no-brainer, Boris. Reinstate the two sacked reps and there will be no strike. Spread the word - let's flood Johnson's inbox with messages today!”

RMT general secretary Bob Crow commented: "We welcome Eamonn's victory in the tribunal and we are calling for an immediate meeting with London Underground in the light of the ruling that he was unfairly dismissed for his trade union activities.”

"With the clear parallel with Arywn Thomas's case there is now an urgent need for London Underground to meet with the RMT to set out a plan for a return to work that can avoid plunging London into two blocks of strike action that everyone knows will lead to massive disruption.”

Bob Crow concluded: "The tribunal has found in favour of the RMT, justice has been done and now we need to meet with the company to finalise arrangements that can enable us to move forwards as quickly as possible."
