Interns and students of Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital staged a sit-in in front of the hospital building on the third day of their strike on Sunday.

They started their protest programme at about 9:00am Sunday, reports our Mymensingh correspondent.

The agitators brought out processions on the hospital premises demanding arrest of the locals who attacked interns and students on Thursday.

They also burnt effigy of Dulal, one of the attackers, on the campus.

Contacted, Officer-in-Charge Golam Sarwar of Mymensingh Kotwali Police Station said they are trying their best to nab the attackers.

The interns on Saturday gave a 72-hour ultimatum to arrest the attackers and threatened to go for tougher agitation.

The attack was made following an altercation between some interns and locals of nearby Charpara area over harassing a female intern by a man of the area on Thursday night.

Immediately after the incident, a group of people of the area attacked the intern doctors and vandalised some hospital rooms.

The interns however agreed to form an 'emergency squad' for treatment of the critical patients.
