The deadline for nominating candidates is 1 March 2011. The Arthur Svensson International Award for Union Rights will be presented in Oslo on 16 June 2011, together with the award money of NOK 500,000 (approx. US$86,000).

In 2010, the award was granted to Wellington Chibebe, Secretary General of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU).

”Wellington Chibebe has been given the award because he is a courageous trade union leader in a country where dissidents face torture and death threats,” said Committee Chair Liv Undheim, Deputy Chair of Industri Energi, upon presenting the award.
