BWI condemns violence against demonstrators

"The BWI condemns the violence against demonstrators in many Egyptian cities rocked by protests in recent days, only weeks after

similar disturbances sparked revolution in Tunisia ." says Ambet Yuson, general secretary of the BWI. "We want their immediate

release."

"There is a need for a real social dialogue" adds Yuson. “The Egyptian people who were peacefully expressing their legitimate rights

to social justice and freedom of expression have to be listened to and their concerns taken into account”.

Demonstrators are calling for social and political reforms and protest against corruption; poverty and high prices.
