SHAH ALAM, June 20 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) president Syed Shahir Syed Mohamud has called on all trade unions in the country to reject the proposed amendments to the Labour Law 2010 by the Ministry of Human Resources, which is claimed to oppress the workers.

He claimed that the proposed amendments would not look after the welfare of the workers in the various aspects including the issue on minimum wage and the payment of compensation to workers who lost their jobs due to their negligence.

It was learnt that the acts involved in the amendments including the Workers' Act, Industrial Relations Act and Workers' Unions Act, would also continue to oppress the workers," he said at a media conference after attending a forum, here Sunday.

As such, he said the MTUC would continue to carry out the information campaign to all workers regardless whether they were members of any union or non-members so that the proposed amendments would not be enforced.
