Ramallah – Ma'an – The Union of Palestinian Teachers announced Saturday that it will go on strike from Monday after the government refused to address their demands.

According to the union’s secretariat-general, teachers will go to schools on Monday and stay until 11am without attending classes. The same plan will apply the next Monday.

On Wednesday and Thursday, 7-8 April, classes will be suspended after 11am, and all other employees of the Palestinian Ministry of Education in Ramallah will go on strike from that point.

A meeting will be held on Thursday, 8 April to evaluate the situation and take further steps in light of recent developments.

The union reiterated that their demands had not changed: salary improvements, adjustment to administrative bonuses, adjustment of the bonus to the nature of work, risk bonuses, employment ranking, promotions, and end-of-service payment for those who served more than 28 years.
