International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE: IBM), Travis County's third largest employer, is reportedly cutting 2,544 workers from its global workforce.

A Communications Workers of America branch, which claims to be the official IBM employees' union, posted a job cuts tally on its Web site Alliance@IBM. The site allows IBM employees to send a form with their name, location, business unit and number of job cuts, though it is unclear from the site how information is verified. Others have reported union officials comparing severance documents.

The communication workers union is not recognized as IBM workers' bargaining unit, but the national group is affiliated with the Alliance@IBM.

A group described as "ITD Distributed Server Management" posted the most job losses out of 22 divisions, about 318. The site does not provide a city or state with groups, so it is not clear if any jobs will be cut from the tech company's 6,200-person Austin workforce.

IBM has not denied or confirmed the cuts yet. The New York-based company already trimmed 10,400 people from its U.S. and Canada operations last year. Its workforce was about 399,400 as of Dec. 31, according to previous reports.
