More than 3,000 miners, members of United Steelworkers Local 6500, walked off the job back on July 13.

The two sides have not talked since negotiations broke down a couple of weeks before the strike deadline and local union president John Fera says the strike will continue unless the company returns to the table.

The union will get support on the picket line later today when they are joined by United Steelworkers members from Toronto.

Meanwhile Vale Inco sent a letter to workers last week, saying if they can't reach an agreement, the company will move ahead with a business plan to benefit everyone.
