Additionally, the 150 maintenance and production workers put a ban on overtime work for two days, reports ABC News.

The workers want more flexible working conditions, according to Damian King of the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union, as part of the enterprise bargaining agreement.

"We've had protracted negotiations, we still have not been able to reach an agreement," he told ABC.

"Effectively the main stumbling block has been that the company wants to introduce flexibility arrangements that could be used to diminish people's right to entitlements.

"That really did come out of the Howard government reforms.

"Campbell's would like to be able to introduce those sorts of changes in the workplace via the new Fair Work laws.

"It is totally unacceptable to our members. Campbell's needs to realise the world has changed, people have rejected that sort of attack on working conditions.

"People want a full collective agreement, where their rights and entitlements are protected."

ABC reported that a spokeswoman for Campbell's said the company is disappointed with the industrial action, which is delaying workers from benefiting from a generous pay rise.
